Karon Whenmouth ITEC, OSM, CIBT, JING, NOHT.

I have run my own successful Holistic Therapy business for over twenty years, and during that time I have become increasingly aware of how the mind, and paricularly memories, impact our physical and emotional wellbeing. With Havening I have finally found a therapy that helps to remove somatic pain conditions linked to a traumatic event, and I am seeing increased improvement with physical recovery and mental healing in my practice.

Having started my working life with horses, as a groom and horse-riding instructor, and continued to ride and compete through-out my life, I have a sound understanding of how our mental health effects our ability to ride, train and compete to the best of our abilities. I have been using the Havening Techniques with great success to support clients with confidence issues and goal setting - watching them improve brings me great joy!

I have also worked with many front line emergency workers, whose work involves multiple traumatic events. The Havening techniques have been incredibly effective at supporting those clients with anxiety, stress, depression and PTSD,  therefore enabling them to carry out their roles more efficiently, and with less emotional distress to themselves (and their families)

More recently I have been using the teqniques to support clients with Covid-19 and lockdown related issues.

Havening has been a brilliant addition to my existing qualifications, it has many uses and is so effective at perminantly removing the negative emotions surrounding traumatic events that I now use it regularly, and with fabulous results. My clients like the therapy sessions and are able to use some of the teqniques themselves after a session to continue their personal growth.

Retired Army Medic.

Between 1997-2000 I served in the British Army as a Combat Medical Technician, during that time I was sent on a six-month tour of active duty in war torn Kosovo and witnessed firsthand the terrible atrocities inflicted on the Arabian people. About two years after leaving the Army, and more so when my daughter was born, I started to have nightmares and flashback relating to one particular task I was involved in. Until I read an article in a magazine about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) I thought the nightmares and flashbacks I was experiencing were normal, considering the things I had seen in Kosovo. I plucked up the courage to speak to my GP about the symptoms I was having and was prescribed anti-depression medication, she also referred me to have Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) As well as speaking to my GP I also reached out to Help for Heroes, who provide counselling sessions through their wellness team and referred me to the Veterans Mental Health Service. Eighteen years after I started to experience the nightmares and flashbacks, and twenty years after leaving the Army I was formally diagnosed with PTSD.
None of the depression medication prescribed to me or the CBT seemed to help, the wellness team counselling sessions helped a bit, but I continued to have nightmares and flashbacks.
I have known Karon for many years as my massage therapist, so when Karon told me she was studying to become a Havening therapist and invited me to be a case study candidate for her, I was both intrigued and excited as eighteen years of suffering with the same negative nightmare and having flashbacks is a long time. Remarkably after having just one session of Havening where we focused on the traumatic event, I see in every nightmare I have, the nightmares and flashbacks have completely stopped!
Karon delivered the Havening therapy via Face-Time which in itself is amazing. Karon's calm approach made me feel able to let all my pent-up emotions, frustration and anger come out. She also explained that I can use the Havening touch on myself if I get stressed about something. I am absolutely over the moon to say that I can look back at and talk about my time in Kosovo without triggering any flashbacks, and I am delighted to say that after eighteen years of experiencing the same nightmare, the nightmares have completely stopped, and I now get a full night of uninterrupted sleep.
Thank you so so much Karon.

Grand Prix Dressage Rider

I initially asked for Karons help to further build my confidence when riding young horses or coping with situations that triggered fear, having lost my nerve over twenty years ago working with a horse that repetitively bolted. Working with Karon has reduced the initial triggers and memories so that my emotional reactions don't over run my rational thoughts and I remain calm and focused in the moment. Through the work I realized that my fear of losing control was a deeper issue and continued to apply the Havening techniques with Karon's guidance to even more long-standing challenges. The help that Karon has given me has helped me develop a more centered approach to riding, competing and to my broader relationships and interactions in general. I cannot recommend Karon highly enough.
