PRESENCEThe Biology of Availability

Presence is often understood as attention, calmness, or simply being in the moment. This presentation explores a different possibility: that presence is a biological availability to what is here. Through simple experiences, neuroscience, and clinical observation, we will explore how history, significance, state, and perception shape what becomes available to us — and how our availability influences what becomes possible when two people meet. Participants will be invited not simply to learn about presence, but to experience it.

Dr. Steven Ruden is a co-developer of Havening Techniques® and an international educator exploring the neuroscience of human experience and adaptive change. His work examines how sensory information, biological state, and relationship influence perception, accessibility, and adaptive flexibility.

The Double Duty of Care

You know you can help people, and you also know that people not knowing what you know — and how you can help them — is not much use to anyone, you or them. You owe them a duty of care to bring what you can do for them to their attention.

You also know you need to be able to earn a living doing what you do helping people, and you also know that pricing is painful for you and your customers — awkward, even. Yet if you don't price your services right, you'll never earn a living. You owe you a duty of care in this respect too. It needn't be this way. In this talk I will show you some ways through these dilemmas.

Conference Co-organiser & Munich Host

A Certified Havening Techniques Practitioner and Trainer and therapist based in Germany. Sophia serves on the Havening Operations Council and is co-organiser of the 2026 conference. She is passionate about sharing Havening and creating opportunities for connection and learning.

Useful information

Online. You can book the online conference as a separate option, with live presentations from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm New York time (EST) on both days. The online program begins with presentations broadcast live from Munich.

Munich. The in-person program begins at 9:00 am Munich time. Mornings focus on interactive workshops, discussions and community connection. From 2:00 pm, presentations from Munich are broadcast live to the international online conference. Online conference access is included with your Munich registration.

Venue. Premier Inn Hotel München City Ost, Kronstadter Str. 6–8, 81677 München.

Conference package. The Munich package is €170 for the full weekend, paid directly to the hotel, and includes conference facilities, refreshments, lunch on both days and online conference access.

Hotel. Accommodation is separate. A limited room allotment is available at €116.90 per night including breakfast. To book this rate, email Convention Sales Manager Christiane Feht at events.muenchencityost@whitbread.com and quote “Havening Forum.”
